Rap is folk music
“Traditional American Folk” Music merging with contemporary Hip Hop in order to paint the picture that Folk Music is defined as the “Music of the people”. Using the banjo and Hip hop elements to shine a light on our collective American Musical legacy. Justin “Demeanor” Harrington is an artist born in Greensboro, North Carolina. Growing up going to Folk festivals and contradances with his aunt Rhiannon Giddens, while also participating in Hip Hop culture at school and home, he uses all elements of his artistic background to Juxtapose the “Old” with the “New” to inspire musicians and people of all generations. Justin has been selected to be a featured showcase artist at Folk Alliance International in New Orleans in January 2020.
