Joseph Starobin
Joseph Starobin is an Associate Professor of Nanoscience at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering in Greensboro. His professional career has been devoted to applying theoretical, mathematical, and computational physics to cardiovascular research. In collaboration with colleagues at MIT, Duke University and the Naval Research Laboratory he has developed an exactly solvable reaction-diffusion model and tested it in pilot clinical studies. The emphasis of his current work is to improve the quality of electrophysiological data collection that, along with other factors, will lead to smaller, smarter, and less costly devices for monitoring heart activity and predicting cardiac ischemia and cardiac arrhythmias.
